Default 'Heim Ins Reich' Badge

Hi

Here is my Heim ins Reich badge.

I know that they were manufactured for Germans living outside the Reich, but does anyone know when they started to produce them. Cone believes they ceased production after 1940, but with no start date.

My example is manufactured by K&Q and I am not sure of what other manufacturers made this badge and if there are any variants.

If any members have an example, then it would be good to see them

Raymond

Good looking example. Another badge I do not own an example of. I have seen at least three other makers besides Klein & Quenzer but will stand down for the owners to post their examples.

Looks nice and genuine. However I can't proof much of that last word. It is one of that badges that keeps a bit a mystery for me. I also have only the information in Cone's book.

I'm sorry to say that the badge being for German's living outside the Reich is a fallacy perpetuated by the inaccurate description in Cone's book "One People, One Reich, Enameled Organizational Badges of Germany 1918 - 1945"

The badge is in fact the membership badge for the Volksdeutsche Bewegung (VDB), a Luxembourg fascist party formed in 1940 by Professor Damian Kratzenberg. This party was the only authorised political organisation allowed by the German occupiers. In 1942 a report by the Germans noted that it had in excess of 69,000 members.......

K&Q is the most common maker found on these badges but there are many more.

Cheers
Don

That is useful info Don Thanks. To me that makes the badge much more desirable.

Cheers, Ade.
