Looks like this one has seen some action or been messed with.

If it's OK any idea of the maker?

Thanks,

Allan

Hello Allan,

the Infanterie Sturmabzeichen is original for shure but the catch has been replaced by the looks of it. The maker behind this particular type of Infanterie Sturmabzeichen is not established although it features the SHuCo design.
It can be SHuCo from Oberstein but it also could have been done for another company or SHuCo provided the die for another company.

There exist at least 10 to me known types with this design of which only a couple are makermarked. A unmarked SH.u.Co 4 veined type (same type as yours btw) have been found in a Eduard Hahn packet and again itīs a Oberstein located company and the Crimped in type have been found in Gottlieb & Wagner packets which also is a Oberstein located company.
