This example recently came in with some documents. In very used condition, with several dints and marks!

I would appreciate any comments and opinions.

Regards Richard.

Richard, two piece example of a Lufte buckle, was it ground dug? looks like it could have been!

Thank you for your reply.

The buckle came in recently as part of a grouping of awards and documents which (allegedly) belonged to the same man.

The man in question was a Bordfunker in Zerstorergeschwader 1 'Wespengeschwader' and his documents are without reproach. With regards to his awards, his 'Fliegerschutzen mit Blitzbündel' is an original Deumer example and his Silver Verwundatenabzeichen is original piece too.

This leaves the belt buckle and as I have not handled a 2 piece Luftwaffe buckle before I wanted to post it here. I am wise enough to judge the individual pieces before the story that came with the pieces. I do not think it is ground dug, just very heavily worn and used. If (and I am not taking it for granted) it was indeed the property of the man in question he was involved in a major crash in 1942 in which his Bf-110 aircraft was reported as 80% damaged! You never know!

Regards Richard.
