Dear friends,
For those of you who visit the website of Carsten Baldes of Ulm, Germany, Detlev Niemann's successor, today he is offering a beautiful matched set of two large Deschler badges -- one a military pinback and the other a diaper pinback -- bearing the very early number of 3026. Baldes does not attribute the original recipient of this number, but I have it identified on my list. He is asking E3300 for the set, which is quite pricey to me, and thank God they aren't attributed! I don't think I've ever seen a matched set consisting of two large badges previously; do take a look if you have the opportunity.

Great find, James. This set originates from our well known fellow collector - at least he used to be one - ServerAdmin, who sold his collection to Baldes. He put a lot of effort into investigating his GPB's, but failed to attribute #3026.
Last time I checked Baldes was asking 3,500 € so he may have reduced the price.

i found the owner of GPB 3026 on another website.
Seems he lost his GPB in aug. 1934.

Thanks friends! Always happy to help out. This is an example of an early Party member who belonged to at least one uniformed organization other than as an officer of the SS and for whom records of his/her position and service are skant at best. I say "other than as an officer of the SS" because I have copies of all of the SS-Dienstalterslisten, which include NSDAP membership numbers, and this person is not present there. I have always wished that the SA, the NSKK, the Political Leadership and the other major uniformed organizations kept as good a record system as the SS did!

Carsten Baldes is again offering a matched set of Deschler GPBs this morning, this time for $3,700.00. The large badge is a military pinback and both are numbered 25545. (Though Baldes does not attribute the original badge holder, I can add that name if anyone needs it.) The small badge has a crack across the white circle, but the large badge is intact.
Hope this is of interest. Blessings,
Br. James
