Hi All!

I thought we might be able to share our resources for GPB numbers... I have a lot of files from NARA (I spent two days there just looking for GPB numbers) but not much time to truly make a database out of them. I can tell you that I have the following names/numbers (inclusive): (A sample of the membership books I found is attached, unfortunately they are in script so I can find a match, but you need to figure out the script  .)

Hi

That is great. I have some numbers and will have to post them up for other members.

Excellent start to a reference thread

Hi Friends!
First of all, congratulations for this interesting forum.

I have a question regarding the number of GPB which were issued. I've read in diferent sources that it was around 22.000 the number of pieces given, but in the image posted by Medic I can see numbers from 55726 to 55750. Do you know, more or less, how many of them were issued?

By the way, Medic, is in the NARA the complet list? Do you know how many names/numbers appear in that list aprox.?

Thank you very much for your attention.
Eckart

Hi Eckart

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your comments.

The Golden Party Badge was issued to the first 100,000 members who had unbroken membership and so that is why the figure of around 22,500 members of the first 100,000 who were entitled to them. So, for example, you may have been member number 21,499 but not been entitled to be awarded the GPB.

I would like to revive this thread. Wim has mentioned in a posting earlier today that there might be numerous collectors running their own lists of numbers along with names of GPB holders. This made me search WWM for a related thread, and here it is.

I second Jason's proposal to create a common list / database for the WWM users. To get this going and if not done yet, I'd like to offer to decipher Jason's handwritten list from NARA (being familiar with German names, I am confident this will not be too hard to do).

Who else would want to contribute, please ?

Hi All!
(A sample of the membership books I found is attached, unfortunately they are in script so I can find a match, but you need to figure out the script  .)

Number 55727 Karl Franz is a mismatch with the name provided for the same number in Beck's book Kampf und Sieg.

Dear friends,

Please excuse my ignorance or poor memory -- or both -- but kindly remind me what "NARA" stands for?

Many thanks,

Br. James
