Thought that I'd start a thread for members to show the first citation that they obtained in their collection (or mention it, if it has moved on), whether it came with an award you bought, just caught your eye, impressive or mundane.
Mine fits in to the last category - a KvK 2 Klasse that I saw going for a couple of ££'s around 20 years ago in a small military section of an antiques type store in Plymouth. Although it was a few more years before I decided to concentrate on paperwork this one was the first and it remains in my collection to this day.

Great idea for a thread!
The first ever paperwork which came into my collection was a pair of Black Wound Badge citations to a Heer Jager Regiment. They did not stay long and were soon out of the door in a trade.
The first Iron Cross citation was an EKI citation ink signed by Heinz Harmel to a member of the 10.SS-Panzer-Division for actions during Op MARKET GARDEN. Unbelievably, I let it go out in a trade and have regretted in to this day.......
No scans of any of these items as this was well before the days of scanners and copiers!
Regards Richard.

My first urkundes came as a set of three wound badge documents, issued to the same soldier. His name was Paul Pachtmann. If any of you can provide more information on him, I'd be grateful....:)

Hello Bob,
Nice to see all three grades to the same man. Do you still have these?
Interestingly, there is a Paul Pachtmann in the Volksbund database as dying on 3rd Nov 1947. It has his birth year as 1905 (no day or month listed, nor birth or place of death) and is buried in the military cemetery at Neubrandenburg-Fünfeichen in something called a Comrades Grave (I don't know what this actually is, a mass grave perhaps? Hopefully another member might be able to help determine that).
If this is the same man then it looks as if the mass of injuries caught up with him just 2 & a half years after the war ended.

My first urkunde's came as a group awarded to a crewman who served on the Hilfskreuzer Orion.
Two of the documents are signed by the Commander of the Orion,Kurt Weyer.
Storch later joined the Minesweeper arm of the KM where he received his MS badge and EKI.
Needless to say i am now "hooked" on award certificates and have managed to obtain Hilfskreuzer award doc's for crewmen who seved on the the HK's,Kormoran,Stier and Thor.
Regards,Martin.

You lucky so & so  That is a signature on a citation that I have been after for a while. Why not post it in the Signature thread in the Photos & Ephemera section, it would be a great addition...

Nice possible Op Citadel related citation signed by August Schmidt. I have found a thread on Feldgrau that gives a little information on the 10 Pz Gren Div's Pz.Jag Abt for July 1943 which might interest you...

Hi,
I am not sure if this qualifies as urkunde:confused1:
Apologies for a bad photo with flash...
My first piece of paperwork, and I still have it:001_tt1:
Awarded to the gruppe Feurstein participants of the forced march from Fauske towards Narvik to rescue Dietl's troops in the battle of Narvik 1940..
Best regards,

That certainly counts - and a very nice item it is too. I haven't seen one of those before.
