I recently purchased this period photo as part of a group to a latter Fallschirmjager. The Fallschirmjager in question carried out his RAD service with Unit 123/4 in Ottmachau in 1934/1935.
2 later photos in the grouping clearly show him in RAD uniform however, I am unfamiliar with the type of uniform worn by the men on this photograph.
Any help or pointers into the type of uniform will be very well received. Hopeful in anticipation.
Regards Richard.

(123/4) Ottmachau, in east-Silezia, was first mentioned in September 1934, in existance in Oberschlesien, Arbeitsgau 12 (as an Arbeitsgau in existance since about February of 1934).
The unit 123/4 had a long history. In March 1941 this unit received the honour-name of "August Holzhausen".
The worn uniform is one of the early versions of the Freiwilliger Arbeitsdienst, and as they existed within the Nat.Soz.Arbeitsdienst (in real fact existing from the Verein zur Umschulung and Stahlhelm-Arbeitsdienst) since about March 1934, it is practically sure the earth-brown uniform was in use with an earth-brown cap with a brown cap-band. The well-known Robin Hood-cap already was developed since December 1933, but during working activities merely the visored caps were worn.

That is exactly what I was looking for! Many thanks indeed for your help with this question.
