this is my last pourchase, saw and bought :001_tt1:
Is a photo of SS-Karstjeager on OZAK territory (Nord Italy : Friuli Venezia Giulia and Jugoslavia: Slovenija) on anti partisan formations.
This is a "portrait platoon photo" for souvenir.
On rear the photo, on large size 25x17 cm, is signed i think by the commandant of this company and is write:
Zur Erinnerung an die Bandenkämpfe in Norditalien 1943
Der 1. Zug der 3 / SS Karstwehrbatallion in Luico
am 2, November 1943
........... ...... SS Sturm

To commemorate the gang fighting in Northern Italy 1943
1. platoon of the 3 / SS Karstwehrbatallion in Luico
on the 2 November 1943
........... ...... SS Sturm

Is hard to say but many soldiers was young boy..... how many of this boy saw the end of war live ??
It's a very rare pic's of entire Waffen-SS world. IMO
Any comment is appreciated :biggrin:

That is a stunning period photograph!

It is hard not be instantly struck by the youth of the soldiers and also their arsenal of personal weapons.......

As you say, as to how many of these young soldiers saw the end of the war, certainly warrants some reflection.

A great photo.
