Hi there,
here are a couple of pic's of the grave of Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel, requested by Santi.
Notice the wreath of poppy's, these are from the British Royal tank Regiment and the wreath in foreground is from The Deutsche Afrikakorp Verein.
The grave is situated in a town called Herrlingen and is not far from where i live. Rommel was actually in born in the town i live in!

 Nice photos. I was travelling in Germany and only a few miles away from there back about 8 & 1/2 years ago. I regret not having the chance to visit his grave site.

:thumbup1: Nice phots. I had not been aware that he was buried there. I wonder where Ewald von Kleist is buried? I have a particular interest in him because I own a minty pair of Shoulderboards that were his whe he was a Rittmeister in WWI.

Thanks Lopside. I added the photos of GFM Friedrich Paulus's grave from your post here so if the link breaks, we still have the photos.

Lee
Fascinating pictures showing the grave of Erwin Rommel, I have not seen these until now.
I am slightly suprised that in these days of political correctness encompassing almost every avenue of the world, that the Eisernes Kreuz emblem remains extant on his grave.
I hope it remains.
Regards Richard.

Hello Richard
the Iron Cross is no problem in modern day Germany, so long it doesn't have the Swaztika on it.
No doubt someone will have something to say about this, but i cannot be bothered to argue about it!!!!!!!!!!
Look at the other thread i started about having trouble with the Police, and you can see why.
All the best

Well done Lee.
I've always felt bad for Paulus. He had a rough go, and lived out his later years sick from motor neuron disease, a debilitating and rather agonizing illness, dying never have seen his wife again. Really quite sad. Some have asserted that he was a misanthrop, to which I would retort. He's largely an obscure person today, merely remembered for his surrender at Stalingrad. Stalingrad was another sad chapter of world history with far too many people dying. It was also another glaring example of politicians playing generals at the expensive of soldiers and civilians.
On a side note, i've always been amazed nobody has ever attempted to dig up Rommels remains. I could only imagine his skull on ebay or in some affluent Russians private collection (or any affluent collector regardless of nationality). Here in the States, cemetaries like Arlington are watched simply because of this threat.
