Could somebody tell me what this type of eagle was used for? I have seen these before but never knew what branch they were used for?

Thanks for the info Peter. Looks to be rzm marked M4 which I thought was for buckles?

Rod, I noticed that too, but figured it was my poor eyes. It should most definately be an M1 on order for it to be original.

That is what I figured to Peter. Maybe the faker stamped it this way so people would know it was a fake?

Original eagle for Customs.
The RZM mark is M1/53 (unknown)

Thanks for the headsup guys. My friend wanted to sell me this eagle. He does not collect very much of this stuff so probably doesn't know it shouldn't be marked this way?

Rod, before you turn this eagle down, ask for confirmation about the actual digit. Images can be very deceiving.

It does look like a number 1 to me.

I asked my friend to check and see if it what looks like a 4 could possibly be a 1 and he said it is definately a 1 so must be a good customs eagle.
