Hi Everyone,
Picked up a number of items at Saturday's flea-market, one being this 41mm x 32mm metal tinnie, made by Dechsler & Sohn - München 9 - for Opfertag 1917 (Victim Day 1917) has the poignant motif of two soldiers carrying a wounded comrade with a cross in the background. Does anyone know anything about this tinnie, was it one of a series?, did the donation go to the red cross? if there are more, I would certainly like to collect them. Any information appreciated.
Regards

Here is a Postcard of the same, yes the donations did go towards the Red Cross, for the Wounded soldiers of the Great war. I am sure there are others as well.
The Descher part is of interest to me, is it Stamped, or is it a Deschler paper sticker/Label ?

Thanks for the posting,
Yes - Deschler name is actually an integral part of the cast badge - not a sticker label.

Hi Albion
Thanks for the reverse. Deschler is one of my favorite makers and always nice to see variants of his stamp, but this one is normal though.
I had a butchers, and yes, there were other opfertag tinnies like yours, see pics. i would imagine different from area to area. There are also opfertag postcards like above.

Thanks for the pictures - I had another look at the badge - if you look at about 8.00 on the badge are the initials R.K. clear to see. Which I take, belong to Prof. Richard Klein, who did a lot of design worked, especially in the Munich area and who was responsible for designing in the mid to late thirties a series of Tag der Arbeit badges mentioned in another thread. It makes me wonder how long his career lasted, as it appear to stretch over the two world wars. Anyone have information?
