Never thought about trying to match it up to a maker Ben. Will have to look into it.
Did you have a thought to who it might be?

Those that know something about Stahlhelm-buckles know there do exist many, many variations of buckles for this organization. Tens and tens. HOWEVER:
only two are officially acknowledged by the Stahlhelm-Bundesamt:
1) brass buckle with silvered inset, which should have the words Front Heil included. The best ones were always produced by the Berg & Nolte-concern. The manner of soldering is a point of reckognition (the hole is fulled and the soldering vaults to the inside);
2) the iron buckle with field-grey paint, introduced in 1926 and worn until the end of existance for the Bund. The first ones were always manufactured by the concern Noelle & Heuck from Lüdenscheid.
None of the other buckles ever was an official one, in spite of the fact that many photographs do show them.
When I have time to do so I will scan an advertisement from Der Stahlhof in which is said that the iron field-grey one is the official one. The advertisement is from May 1931. At that moment the brass one (mentioned above with the motto) no longer was official.

As promised the advertisement from May 1931 from Der Stahlhelm, which was a sort of Reichszeugmeisterei for the veteran's organization.
Note below the Jungstahlhelm-buckle what was said: alle anderen Koppelschlösser sind verboten.
I think no further discussion about what was official within the organization is needed, as Der Stahlhof always took over orders from the Bundesamt.

I had never seen that "ad" before for Stahl. buckles! Very cool! I will throw in my collection of Stahlhelm buckles.....they are all different in construction or "style" variation.
These are some of my favorite buckles to collect....unfortunately, not the easiest to find....but it's great that there are many variants out there!
Let's get rolling! First up is like Joe's....but not as nice. Period repair to the prong bar: it's an old nail! :huh:
Cheers!

I appreciate seeing the buckle with the nail repair. Word on the repair technique must have gotten around. I posted a drop tail Luft. with the same repair.

Hey Joe! Nice buckle! Yes....I've seen other buckles with nails used to repair broken prong bars too. It was a "common" practice (for lack of a better word).
Cheers!
