Hi

Attached are images of my Reichstheaterkammer membership book and pin.

This book is numbered 79,451 and was issued to a Margarete Schröder.

There were various strands to the umbrella organisation which controlled membership to the performing arts.

The membership book logs where the artist was performing and mine seemed to have worked exclusively at the State Theatre in Bremen.

Ideally, I would like to get one of each of the membership books when I can find them.

I know that another member knows more about the organisation and I hope he will add to the post with more information.

Raymond,

I just wanted to take the time to say what a great find you made. This is something really special I'd say. For two small items to open up such a vast area for study, nice!

Hope your friend might shares his collection with us..?

I hear there was a terrible amount of 'in-fighting' during the pre-war days over control of the RKK? Rust and Goebbels and some other biggies? Lots of good artists got lost in the shuffle and bs going on - typical NS-style politics and such. People didn't know quite where to stand firmly on any given theme or style early on, until they got used to the many shades of Hitler's personal tastes. They all just wavered around in the wind like so many blades of grass ... Goebbels got in trouble a couple of times for his interest in 'some, modern-art." Then he got smart and backed way off that idea. ha!

Again, thanks again for sharing.

It was a nice find and something that I had wanted as I think it is an undervalued area. There was a member on another forum who had the membership number about 10 or 20 on from this one which was quite spooky.

They can still be find and are relatively inexpensive for what you get for your money. You never know, you may even uncover a star of the day through a bit of research

Raymond, I'm new here, and joined to pursue more information on the Reichskulturkammer
RKK. I have done some research, and know the history now, and it seems that this was more a control of artistic expression by the Reich, than it was a cultural and artistic club.

I once (25 yrs ago) purchased a storage at auction, and in a small box found several WWII German insignia and ribbons. These were captured, as I have a HY armband with the name, unit, date, and "somewhere in Germany' written in ink in the white stripe.

Also in the box was a near pristine RKK stick pin, but no book with it. I have read that these stick pins are very rare, and difficult to obtain. I'm 71 now, and on a fixed income, so it's time
I consider my options.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hi

Welcome to the forum.

As far as I know, an RKK pin is not the most common of items, but weighed against that is their popularity as a collecting area.

I could not really guide you on price as I have forgotten what I paid for it and do not want to be vague. I have done a quick search on the internet and found one for $82, though I do not know if that is a representative price.
