Here's a small flag from my collection. Size is approximately 16 inches by 13 inches, and appears to be made of cotton. Most flags I've seen of this nature appear to be a lot larger. Were these smaller flags common, or perhaps given by people of lesser means? Any info on these smaller flags would be appreciated.

Dear Russ, there were many different sizes of personal flag. I have some slight concerns with your flag. We need a native speaker to confirm that the kanji is indeed Japanese in content. Looks poorly written & I'm wondering if it's legit. Here's a link to a new book on the subject http://www.gethistorytoday.com/

Hi Jareth
Thanks for the information and the link to the book.
I was told the flag contains the following names, and others: Omori shop member, Kumada Tatsuo, Fujita Shinji ,Sasaki Akira.
I'll post some more close-up pics of the writing shortly which may help. If you know anyone who can identify and read the kanji, please feel free to pass the pics on or give them a link to this post, as I would like to know if I've been duped or not. It came with a sennin-bari which I'll post separately as well for review, but I don't know if they are attributed to the same person.
Many thanks for your help.
Kind regards
Russ
