Hello,

The following book does contain a large section on the award document that was awarded together with the Glider pilots badge:

"The Glider pilots badge"

Especially of interest when a person wants to know mroe about that rare Lw. badge, etc...

To obtain through: http://www.ironcross1939.com

I have the book German Military Award Documents by Emilie Caldwell Stewart, it is a great reference work, and I have corresponded on many of my questions with Emilie and she has always been very gracious and spot on with her assesments.

There are one or two rare documents pictured in here as well.

Hi

I have conversed with Emilie via email and she is always extremely helpful.

I was very fortunate to get a copy of two of her books. The last time I emailed her, she only had a handful of copies left and then that would be it.

It is a real shame as they deserve reprinting

Another recommendation for Emilie Caldwell Stewart's German Military Award Documents. Unfortunately, as Raymond stated, they are hard to come by, and when they do, they always go for a premium.

I have the following Emilie Caldwell Stewart books:

Signatures of the third reich
German military award documents 1939 - 1945
Wehrpass
Mitilary identity documents of the third reich.

The last 2 are good references for soldbuch, wehrpass, etc. Getting a bit old and not in colour but still very good. By far the best is 'Papers please' by Ray & Josephine Cowdery. Very indepth and great colour gloss pages. A must have if your into I.D. docs.

Still, when it comes to award documents the 1st book I reach for is Forman's 'Guide to Third Reich german documents...and their values'. Vol.1 & 2.
Although the values are long out of date it has the most comprehensive list of award documents I know of.

Regards,
AB.

Hi Andrew!
a question...do these three books examine SS signatures, SS documents and SS soldbuchs too?

Thanks.

Cheers,
Roberto

A good resource for comparing signatures can be found here...

www.dokumentenforum.de/board.php?boardid=40

Also the two volumes of Leaders & Personalities Of The Third Reich: Their Biographies, Portraits & Autographs by Charles Hamilton (Vol 1 ISBN: 0-912138-27-0 // Vol 2 ISBN: 0-912138-66-1) are packed full of signatures from all aspects of the Reich, civil & military. The only downside is that below Generalfeldmarschall & Grandadmiral it only shows Luftwaffe 'other' senior ranks (including Aces), not Heer or Kriegsmarine.

'Luftwaffe Efficiency and Promotion Reports for the Knight's Cross Winners' 2 Volume set by French MacLean are a decent source of period documents. Published by Schiffer, I frequently refer to these books which also contain some exceptional wartime RKT signatures to boot.

This site was posted on the Axishistory site earlier today. It is obviously not complete but it does seem to be comprehensive...

...just type the FpNr into the TOWN NAME ONLY box and then press Search.
