I've been travelling for the last month with barely any time or internet access worth a damn but I am home now. Waiting for me was this medal/ribbon bar set to a very brave man. A special thanks to my dear friend Rick L. from GMIC for identifying this one. The grouping is to an enlisted man which makes it all more the rarer since 99.9999% of enlisted groupings cannot be identified. What makes this grouping special is that the recipiant earned both the silver and gold St Henry medals from his home state of Saxony. What IDs it though is the Hohenzollern award. This combo is truely one of a kind and as such, Rick made the ID. Please meet Unteroffizier Walter Heinert of I.R. 134, 1st company.

He wore his silver and gold St Henries from his buttonhole so as not to have them rest behind a lower, and foriegn award, the EK2. He earned his gold St Henry during the Battle of the Somme, between 15-19 August 1916 is a greande battle with the Scott Highlanders. His company's flank was exposed and the British attacked it three times, each ending in failure. He was the only man in his company to go thru the whole war from day 1 to the end without being wounded or killed.
