Hi Guys, just for Raymond, here is my SS-FM payments book.

As you can see it is interesting due to the fact the book exchanged hands and the original payments were taken over.

I will let Raymond explain the SS-FM system as it his pet subject.

Cheers, Ade.

Hi

You will have to wait a few more months as I will be busy with the site now, Carlos. I have a very large pile of primary research to make my way through and it is very time consuming.

The article will appear on this site first, before I see if anyone else wishes to publish it. There is very little written about the organisation, which is surprising given that it made a significant financial contribution to the fledgling SS. That is why I was interested in FM as it was a relatively unresearched area, apart from the badges and the membership books.

FM is my favourite research area and collecting area. Ade's membership book is very interesting as it is the only one I have seen where the membership has been taken over by a family member.

Basically, a member would make a set donation per month which was recorded by means of a stamp in their monthly membership book. The book and pin was a paid for item and the fee for these was taken when the prospective member joined.

If membership was cancelled, the person was expected to return their membership book and pin as it was always regarded as remaining the property of the organisation. On cancellation notices I have seen, the area for the pin tends to be marked as being 'lost'.

The organisation had reached its membership peak by the mid-1930's and then started to go into decline. By 1936, Pohl in a report stated that it could no longer be relied upon to provide a significant revenue stream for the SS.

There was also a montly magazine for members entitled, 'FM-Zeitschrift' that ran from 1934 until the outbreak of war in September, 1939.

Very nice this update, Ray.
I was wondering how much is a far price of this kind of paybook.
