This enameled badge shows the original medieval lion crest of Thüringa, however with an application, the nazi swastika (a historical manipulation).
The text around says " Den treuen zum Danke, den treuen zur Plicht" .
The badge is 3,6 cm high. Backside; stamped Wernstein Jena and is fire gilded.

It's about Loyality, but about what..... in Gau Thüringen, NSDAP ?

I know the German tourist badges that mention; "Thanks to the loyal guest"......
Do you have some idea about the meaning of this badge?

I have seen a badge with the trees before. I'll look and see if it's saved. Don Scowen may recall it.

Benten, I have not located the example I was searching for. I did see an example like yours. Apparently it's listed in the Husken catalog as an unknown.

Maybe it was regulated! The three trees will have a meaning.
I remember having heard many years ago that a specific area, possibly a Grafschaft, did use three of such trees with their coat-of-arms. Do not know more, but this could be a reason for them to be on the very nice badge.

In the beginning of the Third Reich and with the changing of politics, the Germans used a state-eagle with swastika, this is know (for example with wall plaques). Thuringia was one of the German states that was having instead of the eagle the lion with swastika. You see the symbol also with the
buckles from forestry.

Benten, I have not forgotten but have not had much luck finding anything out. I have notes regarding a badge with three trees and wording, Einsatztrupp NSDAP. Located another badge Kreisschiessen Reutte, three trees and a tower.

On Don's suggestion I found that the Wappen for Reutte consists of three trees.

Mr. Benten I show you my example. I noticed this thread a while ago but my pieces have been put away for a while now since "the Spell" for me is broken. Anyway, here is a scan for you, a class act. Have a nice weekend. Robert
