I'm a small time badge collector. My level of confidence on badges is still relatively low. As such, I need to excercise caution when adding pieces as I could get burned. I ended up with a repro accidentally, and fortunately, the seller is a very good guy and rectified the problem immediately. I'm still hoping to add a decent shape blockade breaker, and S-boat, and PAB. I doubt i'll make it into Luft badges. Too time and money consuming. But I WILL complete my KM collection. Only need 3 more.

As you can see, I use frames for display. I added the black background from an old shirt of my wife. Cut it up to fit the frame. If anybody has an interest in these types of frames, let me know as I have quite a few, brand new, still sealed. They are very utilitarian and yet look classy.

Badges are incredibly expensive, considering how little you actually get for the money. I've been fortunate to be able to acquire all my badges at below the market price. They came from people I trust and I shopped them till it worked out. The most difficult time I had was acquiring an unterseeboat badge. I didn't want to spend $500-600 on one, so I had to wait till the opportunity presented itself. It eventually did, and I was able to buy her from a fellow collector at a very attractive price. She's in nice shape and retains probably arounf 75% of her gilt. FYI, she's a K&Q.

Hi,

Nice displays and you have some great looking awards:thumbup:

I really like the look of the worn Coastal Artillery Badge you have there.

Thanks Tom.

Actually, the CA badge is in excellent condition. I'll post a close up of her later.

Hi there,

an excellent collection and nicely displayed as well.

How big are those frames?

Hi Hans,
I have a few sizes. Some are 11"x14" and about 1" deep, some are 8.5"x10" and 1" deep, some are 16"x20" and 1" deep. They work very well and have real glass on the front. The front is a door which is hinged and swings down. Fastend at the top with a miniature fastener. The come with a soft material foam which works well to secure badges, EKs, etc as long as it's not too thick. It won't work for items like daggers.

Contact me via pM for more info.

Thanks Scott.

I'm searching for a blockade breaker. I just sold a saber so now I can fit in another piece. I am now on the sell to buy, rather than the buy, buy, buy, buy, buy routine.
