Hi
In the rules we have the following:
Using Picture Hosting Websites
Please do not use image hosting sites for uploading images.
There are many benefits to them and many members use the sites responsibilies. However, in my opinion, the drawbacks outweigh the postives.
Here are the reasons for this stance.
It makes viewing the thread much slower and look cumbersome.
Generally you are greated with a huge image whether you want to see it or not
Critically, the images disappear over time and we are left with empty threads that are useless as a reference tool.
Members do use them to get a quick validation and then they disappear almost straight away. This is quite irritating and gives the impression that you have been 'used' as the member does not want to share information with other members.
In my own experience, I am a lot less likely to offer advice on members items who use image hosting sites as either a) I know they are usually slow to load and so I just give up and b) I know the images may not be there in a couple of weeks time so cannot see much point in helping as future members will not be able to learn from the thread and learn from the comments.
If we want this to be a learning community and such there is no place for them, I'm afraid.
