Imperial germany buckle-please help

I want to know your's opinion about this imperial germany buckle. It's original period buckle with original painting or it's repainted fake? :confused1:

Hello mate and welcome, the buckle is original but as to the paint I dont like it to be honest, it looks like a panzer grey colour to me and the rust looks too new, hard to tell without having the buckle in my hands. Do you have the buckle in your hands? If so smell the paint and see if it is recent or rub some acetone on it, old paint will not be removed.
