Hi, these are all non official awards. Veterans are either given these at commemorative events overseas or they can buy them.

Cheers, Ade.

Thanks,
I knew they were non-issued, I was curious about how only the normandy badge was maker marked with a serial number.
Seems like to have that trouble, the medal would have been an issued one to a vet? Don't you think? That this commemorative medal was meant for this recipient?

Just a thought.

Thanks for looking.

Maybe it was numbered and given with a numbered citation to make it more "official" looking? I don't really know and can only guess.

Cheers, Ade.

The medal yearbook contains the first medal shown and several other "non" official awards. I can't be but impressed over the quality of medals in that entire section. If only the rest of the "official" medals had that much thought and care put into their design and manufacture.

I'm with Darrell, a very nice looking medal.

The year book I looked at this morning to try and answer the question, doesn't mention any numbering at all.

Another favourite of mine in the Dunkirk medal that seems to have had a lot of though put in to it also.

I completely agree Darrell, the quality in those that developed these medals took great care and they look outstanding.

I love the Normandy one, The landing ship with the date on the ramp. The Fleur-de-leis representing the Continent and France. The only thing I don't like is the way the NO is below the "horizon".

Thanks for commenting guys.

I can't say that I have seen a Dunkirk medal.
Do you have one to share?

Thanks,

The Normandy medal can be purchased here, provided you fought there or are next of kin. It also mentiones about stampings to the rim:

The Dunkirk medal can also be seen on the same site here:

I am sure my Uncle had the Dunkirk medal. I seem to recall him telling me about it but I never saw it.

Cheers, Ade.
