Greetings,
I had fun this weekend. Had some fun laying out possible layout for my Kriegsmarine awards and such. I also convinced the wife that I needed to have some more badges so I picked up a Blocade breaker and a Minesweeper badge. and I will be adding those as I hope to add the final 3 to complete my collection.
I have two layouts roughly so far. Let me know which way you prefer (qualification badges on top or along the sides down)
Thanks for looking and giving me your opinion.

Great looking collection of badges. :thumbup1:
I like the display pictured in the top row--center. Nice and balanced.

Hello,
the Abschnittskommando tally might be one from the German Bundesmarine.
I cannot remember this one ever having seen in a III.Reich order or document and I cannot find it in my tallies-list either (which is an extensive one).

Interesting,
I have not done any research into this tally, I only acquired this piece last week in a KM insignia lot purchase.
What book are you referencing if I may ask?
I can post some better pictures of the tally..
Thanks,

To be sure, I informed myself with a German friend of mine, who writes books about tallies.
The tally indeed is NO III.Reich, but actually Bundesmarine, so after the war.
This is 100% definitive!

The book with Weimar, III.reich and later is not published yet,
but the one about the Königliche Preussische Marine, Norddeutsche Bundesmarine and Kaiserliche Marine (1815-1918) is published in Germany.
German language, 443 pages and many, many photographs also in wearing and explanations.
The authors: Bernd Wedeking and Markus Bodeux,
the ISBN-number 3-86619-000-X and to be purchased at:
VDM Heinz Nickel
Kasernenstrasse 6-10
66482 Zweibrücken, Germany

I forgot to mention that you also could have had a look at volume 1 for Headgear of Hitler's Germany (published in 1989 by Bender Publishing), a book for which I have done the text.
Pages 166 through 187 cover navy tallies fromn the III.Reich.
Further there is available a book from Horst Rivier:
Die Mützenbänder der Deutschen reichsmarine und der Marine des III. Reiches,
1920-1945.
It is known to me that various tallies from the German Bundesmarine are "classed" as III.Reich

I appreciate all the wonderful information. Thanks for the info on some possible sources.
I also got that verified through another military forum as well.
I appreciate your comments and answering a question for me.

You have a great collection there. It will be your choice of set up. That is what really matters as you will be looking at it each day. I find myself fine tuning my displays from time to time. Prost!

I think you would do the forum (and me) a great service if you would explain how you convinced your wife that you needed more badges. :D

Fortunately, I have a very understanding wife, and the ability to work overtime to offset the costs.
An oldie, but a good one none the less:
"I only need _ # left to complete the collection."
"A complete display and representation of a service (heer, Luftwaffe, KM, Etc..) has a better re-sale value. "
*If you use this argument for SS items, you had better have the title of M.D. or Esq. after your name. :D
"25,000 World War Two veterans are passing away each month. Soon these items will no longer be available and the market will be set, prices will go up."
"Who needs a 401K when you have a sure thing!"

I have used some of these "persuaders" to try and convince my wife of the need for me to purchase more TR stuff. Sometimes it has modest success but more often she doesn't get it. You have given me some new tricks to try. I'll see how she reacts to them. :D:001_tongue:
