View Full Version : I can't post a unique avatar

Hi
This is a common question and it is because of the permission rules for new members and guests.
So, to be able to upload a unique avatar, you will need to meet the requirements to change. For example, for a new member it is simply to make 25 posts and then your membership status changes to member.
You can choose from the default avatars available. We will continue to add new ones over the coming weeks as well as working on suggestions from members
Happy posting

So why did you all set it up for like that. Hey, this counts as another post, doesn't it?

Hi Mike
It was set up like this for a couple of reasons
Firstly, membership category has different permissions which improve as a person moves from guest to new member to member. This is to reward those who contribute to the forum.
Secondly, if every new member had the ability to have a custom avatar, then the number of avatars to check on a daily basis to make sure they do not infrine the rulesmultiples and is possible that a spammer/trouble causer etc could join up, upload an offensive avatar with no problems at all. Thus, it also acts as a filter.
Hope this answers your question

Yes it does Raymond, might have seemed like a silly question, but I was curious. Thanks for reply. (BTW) I really like the format of this forum and the way you can navigate around it, post pictures and such. Regards- Mike

Hi Raymond,
I may be doing something incorrectly, but I do not appear to have the ability to set a unique avatar. When I click on "Edit Avatar" under "Settings & Options" there are no options to upload a user created avatar. Any thoughts?
Thank you.

Paul, i see you are still with the "New member" status and although it should have changed when you got 25 posts, dont worry, it's not a problem with you. The status changes automatically and it usually changes when you get to post 26. You now have 26 posts.
Try logging out and logging in. It should be fine then.
Best,
Santiago
