This was the improved version of the Ssch39 shown in my other thread.
The steel shell remained basically the same, issued in three sizes, 1 to 3, but the liner system was radically changed. From the outside the difference can be seen by the placement of the rivets for the liner. On this pattern, the rivets are set lower down.
The new three pad liner allowed the cap to be easily worn under the helmet.
Note the remains of the red star to the front.
Shell size is a "1" and is ink stamped dated 1941.
