This one is new to me.

From China...obviously. Doubt it will capture too many people....other than the people who bought one of the horrid lionhead style sabers.

Nonetheless, thought i'd post it...if for nothing more than a laugh. Pure junk.

Hmmmmm..... If you check his feedback, you will find that many of his buyers are happy holding a great piece of history:huh::confused1:
He also has a number of repeat customers.

If he has sold this kind of postwar junk to all of his 'happy buyers' then I very seriously fear for their continued economic well being. If there are that susceptible - then they will buy anything that somebody tells them is OK. The blade is in very nasty condition, and looks like it has been down inside a well for a very long time getting all rusted and pitted. The sheet metal scabbard has more or less surface rust only - instead of being very heavily corroded and eaten through. Why is that?

The seller calls it a “Vintage German Military Police Sword Saber WWII Old”. Then later he calls it a “Vintage Russian Military Police Sword Saber WWII Old “. Which is it???

And neither the Germans or the Russians used that type of saber during WW II. And that is just for “starters”. It gets worse.  FP

Below: A pair of legitimate WW II era sabers, Russian and German. FP

All I can say is WOW! I sure feel sorry for the collector just coming into the hobby of militaria collecting and thinking eBay is the place to buy. I have purchased an item or two from eBay, but I know my stuff.

It never ceases to amaze me the complete lack of morals with some sellers. And also the amount of ignorance too.

I have given up on ebay completely. There is just too much junk to sift through, I always feel like I am wasting my time. Besides, I have a severe dislike for ebay itself, because their attitude stinks.
FP, I love your Russion Shaschka? I have always admired these tradidional blades. I don't own one, but maybe some day. Is there a chance that you could post some closeup photos of yours?

As we all know, if one has the time, periodically, more like rarely, a decent piece can be found. What i've found though is that pieces which are fine, are selling for entirely more than they are worth. I havn't bought any German items off eBay in over 2 years. I still dig out some nice Japanese pieces from some sellers around the county I know personally who travel 3 or 4 times a year to Japan. If anyone needs some trustworthy sellers of Japanese, let me know and i'll forward you their info.

As far as this garbage goes, i've also given up on informing sellers, in America, that these junk Chinese pieces are just that...junk. More often than not I get the whole, "FOAD...you don't know sh.t!" Honestly, when I would try to inform people, sellers, I would be very constructive and positive and provide them links to locations that they could research and confirm it themselves...and still, i get attacked. So in short, i've given up on doing such things.

Fred- nice pieces as always.

Good collecting friends,
Tom

Wolfgang, This is image is from an old photo shoot and I probably won't be doing any other significant ones until possibly sometime in the spring. A better close up of the hilt portion, with the correct Soviet era locking ring type bayonet (versus the 91/30 rifle bayonet). There is an the Imperial era version with a plain hilt. And some Chinese manufactured examples as well.

PS to Tom: In face to face conversations with buyers (much less sellers - who get can get very hostile) of those fake etched "SS" bayonets. The ones with with the etched SS motifs on military issue blades. I've had them blindly refuse to accept reality!! You can tell them, but if they don't want to listen, you just move on .....

Best Regards to All, FP
