Hi Guys, I thought I would start the new forum with my favourite badge from my collection.
I can tell you this one cost me Ģ30 about 30 years ago.
A British soldier serving in North Africa found it in a fireplace in a house. It was hidden under some rubbish. He was ordered by an Officer to light a fire and that is how he found it.
Cheers, Ade.

Ade, it's "that" WB again, I never tire of seeing that wonderful specimen :tongue_smilie:
Hans, yours is a little beauty too.
One day I'll snag one of these "solid" back type 1's - I hope.

Any clue as to maker? The catch looks like the same one found on spanish crosses by Peltz (sp).

Hi Don,
when it comes to this type of hardware itīs not easy since there are Sport badge makers that used the similar type. One that comes to mind is Wernstein and thatīs why the IAB with the same catch type is designated as the so called "Real Wernstein"

Hi Don,
another maker that comes to mind is PK number 92 which is Josef Rucker & Sohn from Gablonz. This company made WBīs and in my collection i have one that features the same catch as the Type 1 Hohl Verbödet.

I don't think any Gablonzers were making items that early. I've been working another theory about AS Triangle and have been looking for early Gablonzer marks with very little success.

Just because you donīt find early Gablonzer marks i doesnīt have to mean they did make any badges pre-39.

But on the other hand it doesn't provide proof that they did.
