Hi Guys, here is a fliegerbluse frm my collection. Condition is almost mint with very light use.
The size, as is often with wartime German material, is very small, compared to an adult today.
Note the different shades of rayon lining used in it's construction.
The rank stripe and Flak qualification badge are hand sewn in place.
Note the RB number and size stamps to the lining.
Cheers, Ade.

Nice piece Ade. Here is the one that I picked up this year. The seller, a private collector, bought this out of George Petersen's collection when he sold out. Beautifully tailored piece. Showed this to my friend, Peter Spoden, the former WW2 Luftwaffe night fighter ace, and he cringed... he had been shot down by his own flak once so didn't appreciate the flak gunners!

Thanks. I was growing weary of the other forums and Gary Wood pointed me in this direction so I hope it stays pretty active. Two of the forums I belong to are dead as a doornail, and I'm sure that everybody can guess which two those are. So looking for some action here!

I like 'em all. I can see that I will have to get out my camera this weekend. Show and tell. You gents will proabably know more about my tunics than I, so maybe I can find out exactly what I have.
Since I am a combat badge guy (or so I try), uniforms have always been a bit of a mystery. But that also includes ......very alluring.......

I love the cut of the fliegerbluse. It's just perfectly suited to a mannequin.

I'm going to look for the photos of an unusual Luft AK tan signals tunic with wooden buttons that I had had many years ago. If I can eventually locate them I will post them.

These flak tunics are stunning looking in my opinion. Have been searching for a nice one for a while. Missed out on a sweet vet lot a few months back. I made the best offer for the tunic, combat belt, pistol and holster but lost out as i wasn't in kentucky and a guy at the show offered the guy 100 less and in cash that day:tongue_smilie: Will get a nice one eventually. Stunning flak tunics though!!! Matt

Ade, Interesting application of the breast eagle. It does not seem to be the normal sigzag machine stitching. Jacques

Hi Jacques, nice to see you here :thumbup1:
This pattern of stitch is less frequently found. But is still period. I don't know the technical name for it.
Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade,
I am sorry to say, but in my opinion you have an original tunic with a mix of original and reproduction insignia replaced.
I am not an "expert" and there are always exceptions to the rule, but here are my observations.
1. There is a shadow of a previous eagle above the one that is present(notice above the wings). That mixed with the non-standard method of application Jacques mentioned are not good signs.
2. The shoulder boards do not look like the standard construction or material. Based upon the photos, I doubt that they are even WW2 period.
3. The collar tabs do not look like they are of WW2 origin either. The general shape, shade, material grade and etc match what I see on Ebay being sold as reproduction. Also they are definitely replaced. For that rank, why? The second set of gulls would have simply been pressed through the tab and collar. Possible reissue piece... but from 1944 onward, field uniforms were not supposed to have collar tabs(by order).
4. The insignia does not appear to be meshed "into" the fliegerbluse. The examples I have seen have all had this. This occurs naturally with use and/or time. They look like they have been applied recently. Most obviously the collar tabs and the Grefeiter chevron.
Bob,
Your Tuchrock is simply beautiful!

Hi Paul, thanks for the observations. Once thing I can tell you is, in hand, the tunic does not have a replaced breast eagle. There is no sign of it ever having another breast eagle, either from the outside or the inside. I know pics can at times be decieving and I understand where you are coming from. :)
Cheers, Ade.
