Hi Guys, again this award is a personal fave of mine. I have a couple of these and intend to buy more ;) Prices are going up on these quickly.
The sheer quality of these is just wonderful. Made of solid silver with fine red enamel.
Rather than me explain what is a complex award in terms of variations please use this link:

Here is my other example.
Both of mine date from 1945 issues. Once again, when finances permit, I will have these researched.
Later issues with higher serial numbers are often "catch up" awards given for WW2 service or actions.
Cheers, Ade.

How can you tell a real one from a fake?

Same way someone can tell a fake EK or PAB from a fake one Don (which PAB's I'm hopeless ;)).
It's pretty easy to spot the poor quality or ****py strikes when a fake shows up.

Hi ,
Stamp "Mondvor"in a two lines is on the reverse.Star arms are acute.Stamp of the mint is of the middle size. The base of screw is with a ledge .Total number:
more than 230 000 awards (N° still 250 000)
Mr SHISHKOV S, book Tome 1 page 221
No problem for that !
Cheers
Especially the earlier Red Stars are really beautiful. This Red Star (# 213445) was awarded on 28 July 1943 to Guards Major Savelyev, Deputy Head of the Reconnaissance Section of the 5th Guards Tank Army.
This one is pretty beat up, but nevertheless attractive, and it has a nice low number, 69503.
Unfortunately no documents for this one were found in the archives, but it was probably awarded by the Stalingrad Front around October 1942.

Hi Auke, these are very nice early examples which you show. I would like to add one with a screwpost base to my collection one day.
Cheers, Ade.
