1st Class-Established 8 July 1944.
Awarded to all mothers who gave birth to 6 children and brought them up. The award was only given when the last of her children reached one year of age, if all her other children were alive. If a child had died while serving the state, it would be considered alive for award consideration. Adopted children were also taken into account, as being born to the rewarded mother.
Approximately 4,000,000 were issued until the fall of the Soviet Union. These were not serial numbered but came with a citation/award booklet.
The 2nd class version has light blue stripes to the ribbon design and was given for 5 children. Approx 8 million issued.
Cheers, Ade.
