Hi Guys, here is another medal from my collection.

Established on Victory day 9th May 1945.

Awarded to all servicemen of the Soviet Army, Navy, Ministry of Internal Affairs Troops (MVD), NKVD and employed civilians ( such as in military administration departments, military warehouses, etc. ) who participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War. Required was a length of service of 3 months for servicemen and 6 months for employed civilians. It is made of brass.

The design of the orange/black ribbon recalls the colours of the old Imperial St George Order and Soviet Order of Glory.

Approximately 14,900,000 were issued. So not exactly rare, but one whch is still faked! Beware of cast copies as well as out right new fakes. Three variations of the original medal can be found. As usual the suspension ring is what to look out for.

Cheers, Ade.
