Two Rare Japanese Winter Caps

To break the ice & start this board going here are two rare, cold weather/winter fur caps. The blue one is navy & the other is an Imperial Guards. Enjoy & please feel free to post photos & ask questions!

Is that a metal insignia on the Navy?
Are these marked usually to the inside? Is the inside quilted?[right term?]

Yes the navy has a brass nickel plated anchor with cherry blossom insignia sewn on. Both caps have non quilted cloth liners. Navy has sewn in label while army is ink stamped. Sorry no interior shots.

My small contribution with brown fur dated 1943. Unfortunately it's missing the front insignia which I guess is almost impossible to find loose. Still one of my favorites!

Great cap Eric! You will find quite a few variations of this rare winter cap. I have both an enlisted cap with a faux fur that's like pile or lambs wool & an officer's private purchase with beautifull fur, higher quality fabrics & private purchase label similar to those sometimes found in high quality navy flight caps. The rarest variant is the early model with 2 dimensional, gilt embroidered insignia identical to navy officers peak caps.

Thanks Jareth! Mine has fake fur as well and is actually very well made for an EM piece of headgear. I was lucky enough to find this one mis-labled as a flight helmet. There's something really neat about navy winter gear. When I get a bit more time this winter I'll have to pull out my navy winter coat and navy marked skiis.
