This is my one and only helmet(mostly because of the prices they tend to go for) It has the been there look do to some paint missing and scratches but i like it. I think it is a mid to late war helmet, hope you like it

Hi Dave, thanks for showing your Luftwaffe M42 Stahlhelm.

I have one of these in my collection too. There is an interesting feature, which can be observed on mine, which is a reissue helmet. As increasing amounts of Luftwaffe troops were deployed as ground troops fighting in Field Divisions it was found the conventional Luftwaffe blue/grey paint of impractical for what they had become, essentially, infantrymen. As a result many, not all, were refurbished. The outer paint was completely stripped away and repainted a dark late war shade of field grey, but the interior was left in Lufwaffe blue/grey.
