I went to a rememberance for Pearl Harbour today, and had the good chance to meet Mr Roy Mooney, a Pearl Harbour survivor who lives in Georgia( the Atlanta paper did a very good story on him today http://www.ajc.com/search/content/metro/stories/2008/12/07/mooney.html)
Today also served as a day of hounour for WW2 vets, and i spent a nice hour cahtting with a CBI vet, as well as well as n infantryman from the 29th.

It was held at the local airwing/musuem i often frequent, and have donated some items.
These are a great bumch of folks who strive to keep interest alive and hounour those who served.

They had several restored aircraft, including a SBD Dauntless that did a flyover

Great post and pics, Scott - I really enjoyed looking at them.

I too must highly recommend visiting the Pearl Harbor memorial and museum. It was an extremely sobering and educational experience.

In addition to the Punchbowl, I'd also recommend visiting the USS Missouri, anchored just a short distance from the Pearl Harbor memorial. My wife and I spent half a day exploring the ship, and there is a memorial plaque marking the spot where the Japanese signed the official surrender, ending WWII.

Two extremely significant and, again, sobering memorials that should be visited at least once in ones lifetime.
