Here's a cased 1929 RPT non portable badge that was Vet acquired. The interesting thing about this badge is the recipient put a lock of blond children 's hair in the case under the medal. A real personality piece!

Erich

Now that is a real beauty.

The box has a certain understatement about it that gives it a real touch of class, if you see what I mean.

Thanks for posting this one up, Erich

Great piece--of course the box is harder to find than the plaque, but these plaques are actually fairly rare. There used to be quite a few fakes around, but now I rarely even see them, and originals have always been very scarce.

Thanks Mike. When looking at the fake badges they lack the detail to the eagle, the lettering in Nurnburg is incorrect and the MM on the reverse has a few die flaws that the fakes don't have. The 29 RPT badge is very undervalued IMO in relation to their importance among the NSDAP ranks.

I remember there was another site (frames.com something ?) that sold these sets for years ...can't find them now. I was hoping to compare them and see if this was the same fake that the "framed/frames" guy was selling ....but these are so scarce that , I thought it would be a good idea to show the fake so there's no confusion.

Hi Mike, I know of the the dealer concerned that you mentioned. I have them in my faves list.

http://www.egframes.net/

They appear to have ceased dealing in repro German items and gone over to dealing in nothing but repro British items and bespoke medal framing.

Cheers, Ade.

That's the one ! Interesting to see that a Dealer actually stopped selling German fakes ..wonder what happened.
One less to worry about :thumbup1:

I have never been able to find a cased example that I completely trusted and it is the pne 1929 RPT piece I still need in my collection.

Attached are photos of the plaque, solid, on an original Hoffstadter frame and the hollow plaque for the Deutschland Erwache standard.

Hi Bob

Well that is a jaw dropping item to have in your collection.

I ran out of superlatives a long time ago, but that is incredible.

Thanks for posting up images of your standard.

Bob, there were two issued for the Rally and this was the 2nd one. Yes these are pretty rare and it took me awhile to find one and it wasn't cheap! Best, Erich
