Eduadro,

thanks for starting this thread.Some great looking portraits you have there.I will start off with my favorite photograph,a period signed portrait of "Atlantis" commander Bernhard Rogge.If any other members would like to contribute to this thread,with their KM photo's,please do so.

Regards,Martin.

Now for what i consider the rarest,This is one of small group taken on board the Hilfskreuzer Pingiun.It shows the commander Ernst-Felix Kruder and his officers.
The Pinguin was sunk on May 8 1941 by HMS Cornwall with a loss of over 300 lives.
I can only presume that the negatives or photographs somehow made it back to Germany on one of the Pinguin's prize ships.

Here is another of my favorite photo's,a nice family portrait with the father wearing the HSF badge.
I will post more later,

MArtin, those are great pictures, as you say men with badges are always very nice, but I look more pictures with rare badges or insignias, that you only have read that were used or even that you have never known.

Here an other ofmy favorites a Marinehelfer with the cuff band and wearing the feldgrau uniform, firts and only time thatI have seen.

Eduardo,

Eduardo,
you mentioned you liked rare badges.Here is a very rare photo IMO,of the cloth Destroyer badge in wear.

Martin, this last pictures is great as reference. Many times you doubt about the use of some badges, as with the embroidered ones. I like it very much.

Here some Beamte-Officials. First is a rare picture from 1934, with the national eagles added to the cap and tunic, but still with the sleve badges and the dagger from the Weimar Republic models. Also you can see a rare Official with NCO rank wearing the rare shoulders.

Peter, great portrait, no easy to see pictures with Narvik shield, and if it came with the shield from the same man is an amazing set :thumbup1:, thanks for sharing.

Here my only two pictures, in this case press pictures, with narvik shield in wear. Firts from FK Rechel and second from Admiral Bey.

Hi

Here is one of mine. It is the first frame of 12 from a negative roll. I believe this was the final passing out before being shipped out to their units.

Image is a direct scan from the negative.

Cheers

Eduardo,

i finally found a great looking photo with the Blockade badge in wear.What ilike about this one is that he is also wearing a Wound badge of the "cut-out" type.

Regards,Martin.

km-spain
29th December 2008, 06:44
Martin. great pěcture congratulations.

Maybe the cut-out WB is from WW1, I can not see clearly. From WW2 I have only seen the cut-out WB from the first model, the Condor Legion model. I have an original one in my Panzerschiff Deutchsland crew man mannequin.

Many time without post a new picture, but my scaner has died, so I have to scan my pictures by other way to post them here.

Anyway here you have my last add, not a photo but a great one, dated in 1941, size 45x60 without the frame.

My contribution with some navy officers photographs from my files.
I haven't put a name over them, as some persons are so skilled, they remove it again, so nobody can see it (or hardly) and use them then for their own benefits
and credit!

The 3 photographs will one day be used for an extensive article about the navy belts and brocades for the Military Advisor-magazine for Bender Publishing. When?
Don't ask, as it may take some years as other articles will be published sooner.

A few more from the navy: one Korvettenkapitaen (Marineoberstabsingenieur);
Marineartillerie, spring 1941 at Kiel and a priest from the navy, wearing field-grey

A few more from the navy: for the U-boat enthousiasts.

Karl-Heinz Marbach wearing his Ritterkreuz;
ibid with the wearing of a brocade July 9, 1943. At this moment it was quite unusual to wear the brocade;
two photographs from his new U-boat (U-953?), just taken over from the Blohm & Voss company at Hamburg

Some other navy photographs with the wearing of a visored cap or the use of a dagger. What about the really nice one: wearing of a tropical visored cap. Ever seen?

In 2006 two of my best German friends (Bernd Wedeking and Markus Bodeux) published a most excellent and well-researched reference about tallies from the German navy (ISBN 3-86619-000-X). This book with about 444 pages and 1,200 b/w photographs, drawings and documents dealt with the navy between 1815-1918, particularly the Koenigliche Preussische Marine, the Norddeutsche Bundesmarine and the Kaiserliche Marine.
This book is in fact a MUST for navy collectors in general!

In the coming near future they will continue with the tallies from the Weimar and III. Reich period and follow the concept: many tallies (in color), many photographs about its wearing, documents and again well-researched background-information. Too much to mention!
I respect them highly and I do consider them as the best experts in the field of German tallies. Their book will be the final and ultimate book about these subjects.

Getting ahead of the second book I will show now some photographs of the wearing of tallies (not even being the best from their collection), to give you an idea of what will come! For protection and as a sort of "embargo" the photographs are marked over the faces of the sailor's.
Have some fun and enjoy.............and wait until the book is released!

Continuation 2: German navy tallies

Wouldn't it be a great and good idea to start a thread from navy tallies from Germany, especially from the III.Reich period (not being the KRIEGSMARINE type)?
Not only being actual tallies, but also its wearing and documentation about the subject. With this the beginning is made................who's next!
