Hi

There are many numbered SS daggers out there without a name to go with them.

One of my research hobbies, is collecting numbers and I have various databases of numbers in the hope that I can identify something for members in the future.

So, over the course of the days, months and years, it would be great to know what exactly is out there and has not been identified.

Let's hope we can re-tie some threads and identify a few.

By all means, just post a number, but if this is to become a thread for everyone, then posting pictures would be recommended as it make it a great reference thread for collectors and enthusiasts alike rather than just a long list of numbers.

If you post an image, can I ask that you enter a brief description in the title. This is so members can search and it will check the title headers. So it maybe 'SS Dagger - Number 74,357 and maybe add the maker to boot'

Important Note: The is no motive behind this other than to help collectors put a name to a dagger. If anyone contacts you identifying the number and asking for a fee in return for the name then please politely refuse. This is against the spirit of the forum and the whole reason behind such threads. This is all about members being helped by members

It is perfectly acceptable if you get a name from a collector and then you wish to pursue further research of that individual with a paid for research service. If you ask for opinions on which researchers can help you, Iam sure members will share their experiences and pass on names to you.

So, lets see some numbers and images of SS daggers.

Here is mine to start us off.

The dagger is in pretty bad shape and someone had done a very rough job of removing offending symbols.

Later, someone decided to insert a fake SS button.

Still, I had my eyes open and paid a price that reflected it.

Here is the image of the number

Hi

It is a very nice display of daggers.

Do keep the numbers coming as I hope to be able to help others identify some daggers that have previously been unresearched

The only one I have with a number isn't IDed yet. Maybe one day I'll get lucky. It's number 162203.

Hi

Just reading Phil's thread on his numbered dagger reminded me about this unattributed numbers thread.

If anyone has any numbers that they have yet to attribute then please post them up.

Best wishes

Hi

I have just added another 4,000 names and numbers to my database. No matches on the ones listed but I did manage to attribute a fair few that I had noted down.

So, if there are any other members with numbers and no names then please do post them up

Well done Raymond I'm sure everyone appreciates your help.

What about starting a thread with Numbered SS daggers who have been identified to the original owners, it might make for some interesting reading just seeing who's daggers we have.

Raymond-
I have two in my collection that up until this time, the identity of the owner is not known.

1. SS #15097. early Eichorn trademark

2. SS #193107 Robert Klaas

I have never had much success taking pictures of daggers. Here are the numbered cross guards.

Hi Bob

I have a hit on one of your daggers, namely number 15,097.

The dagger belonged to UStuf. Erich Dann. I have have a look through my available material and see if I can add anything else for you.

I will add the other numbers to the database.

By his number would have joined SS in 1930/1931

Assigned to the SS-Nachrichtenschule Metz in October 1944, not a officer school graduate so rank probably d.R. (reserve)
